Mission: To Improve the Quality of life for the Residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

After 7 years of working in the Boston community CEHSID has emerged to be a leader in combating health and social inequities and disparities in some of Boston’s most challenging towns. The CEHSID mission aligns itself with the goals of many other healthcare institutions and agencies. CEHSID has adapted a simple tool such as a Gospel Music Festival to help drive health awareness in the community and to link the communities of Boston and beyond to many health, social, human and support services.

Taking into account the social determinants of health, environmental changes and the rising cost of living CEHSID Inc. always strive for excellence and also collaborates with over 45 agencies, government, private sector and local business owners to be efficient and effective in delivering high quality services to our clients and the people of our communities.

CEHSID Inc. has grown tremendously in the area of health education and social services. Some of our most recent success has been the launch of our Women’s Health Educational Series and our three Youth Programs. These programs are population specific and are very beneficial in that they provide valuable life changing resources and services to women and children. For the women of our communities we provide information and resources to address the issues of Breast, cervical and ovarian Cancer, heart attack, stroke and forums for women to get connected to health insurance, quality accessible health care, counseling through referral to one of the 15 Greater Boston Health Center’s and 5 Major Hospitals that have partnered with us.

CEHSID Inc. has developed youth programs to foster healthy growth and development and academic excellence. We have gone further to develop a Youth Violence and Mentorship Program to create healthy relationships amongst youth and an environment of public safety.

CEHSID Inc. has the largest Men’s Health Education and Intervention Programs in Massachusetts. We have established the Massachusetts Men’s Health Coalition which allow men to discuss health topics and issues across the state sharing best practices. CEHSID Inc. also collaborates with law enforcement, Boston Police Department, Department of Public Health, Boston Public Health Coalition, Suffolk Superior Court, State Parole and various probations Department to provide services to thousands of men and women to provide public safety. One of CEHSID Inc. Re-entry Model is looked upon as a National Model intervention for Reentry. The Model was effective in lowering recidivism by 40%. At present 85% of the men who enroll into CEHSID Inc. Men’s Health Program do not go back to prison. (Measurement over 2-3 Years)

CEHSID is also very instrumental in the fight of Prostate Cancer and very instrumental in educating Men of Color on the topic of Prostate Cancer including helping with early detection and diagnosis. Massachusetts Prostate Cancer Coalition collaborates with CEHSID Inc.

CEHSID Inc.: Serving Thousands of people. More than (30,000) thirty thousand people per year. We create a sense of hope, peace, love and unity amongst people.

OBJECTIVES:

• Reduce the number of cases of Cardiovascular Diseases in the high risk communities of Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury, (Greater Boston Area) Brockton, Lawrence and Lowell through health education and awareness, prevention and early detection and diagnosis. 10% reduction in 3 years (Improve Public health)
• Educate 3000 high risk men and women about Cancer each year (Family History and early detection)
• Link 1000 individuals to health insurance, Primary care and Primary care site
• Reduce recidivism by 40% each year among the men released to CEHSID Inc. from Prisons or incarceration (Public Safety: Lowers crime rate)
• Provide health education forums and information to 10,000 men and women each year including a focus on cardiovascular disease, cancer, sexual health, Mental health, Substance abuse, domestic violence, healthy eating, lifestyle, parenting and financial literacy. (Symposiums, conferences, summits, Barbershops etc.)
• Provide radio programing to drive health awareness and healthy life style to 3000 people each month on local radio stations in Boston
• Educate 2000 children each year about violence prevention, bullying, healthy eating, Obesity, their community resources, career path and academic excellence
• Enroll 10,000 men and 10,000 women in the Massachusetts Men’s Health Coalition and the Women’s Health Coalition (over ten years)
• Secure more Funding to sustain the CEHSID Inc. health education and interventional programs ($250,000 annually) Improve the health of over 100,000 people each year.
